AUSZEIT Youth Centre Gleisdorf is a welcoming space for young people to connect, explore, and grow. We offer a safe and supportive environment where children and young people can spend their free time, discover new interests, and build meaningful relationships. Our work is rooted in inclusion, participation, respect, and empowerment – we believe every young person deserves a place where they feel seen, heard, and valued.
The youth centre is open to children and young people aged 10 and above. Whether they come to relax, meet friends, play games, get creative, listen to music, or simply spend time together, everyone is welcome at AUSZEIT.
During opening hours, there are always at least two youth workers present who are available to support and talk to the young people. We encourage our visitors to bring in their own ideas and actively participate in shaping activities and events.

The youth centre is located in Gleisdorf, a town in the Austrian state of Styria. The centre provides a relaxed and informal environment where young people can meet their friends and spend their free time without any pressure to consume.
At the centre, young people can enjoy:
- Games: Table football, billiards, darts, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and board games.

Small snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. We source our drinks regionally and place great importance on quality.
In addition to complying with applicable youth protection regulations, we place particular emphasis on mutual respect, tolerance and a friendly atmosphere.
Role of an ESC Volunteer at AUSZEIT Youth Centre Gleisdorf
As a volunteer, you will become a valuable part of our team and be involved in many aspects of our daily work. Your main tasks may include:
- Supporting open youth work activities (games, cooking, crafts, conversations, etc.)
- Spending time with young people and being available for conversations
- Helping to organise and run workshops, tournaments or small events
- Supporting excursions and special activities
- Assisting with social media and creative documentation
- Bringing in your own ideas, interests and culture
- Sharing your skills and interests with the young people
- Creating and leading a small personal project with support from the team
The exact activities will depend on the volunteer's interests, skills and ideas, as well as the needs of the youth centre.
Profile of an ESC Volunteer at AUSZEIT Youth Centre Gleisdorf
AUSZEIT Youth Centre Gleisdorf is looking for an open-minded, friendly and reliable person who is willing to embrace diversity and cultural differences within a multicultural youth community.
The volunteer should be communicative, proactive and interested in working with children and young people. You should enjoy spending time with young people, playing games, being creative and participating in activities.
Concrete ideas for youth work and the ability to organise or develop your own small projects are welcome. The volunteer should show a genuine interest in social issues, youth work and educational approaches.
We are looking for someone who is:

Work and Living Conditions
Accommodation is provided in a student dormitory in Graz, in a single room in a shared flat.
Local transportation to the youth centre, including a public transport ticket, is covered.

Training and Support
Volunteers take part in the On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Training provided by the Austrian National Agency.
A German language course is offered, and volunteers receive continuous support from experienced youth workers throughout their volunteering period.
The volunteer will be part of the youth centre team and will have regular opportunities to discuss their experiences, ideas and questions with the youth workers.
